Tlingit Photographer to Exhibit at Smithsonian

Exhibit showcases Larry McNeil platinum photographs.

Sealaska shareholder Larry McNeill will be co-featured in an exhibit at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI). In conjunction with the NAMI exhibit a symposium with McNeil and Will Wilson will speak about platinum printmaking. The symposium, Platinum and Palladium Photographs, will be held a NAMI October 22 and 23, 2014.

Sealaska worked closely with McNeil for the 2008 Sealaska Annual Report. His collages and collage photography help bring the theme of Perseverance to life.

McNeil is sharing his knowledge and passion as a professor of photography at Boise State University.

McNeil obtained a Bachelor of Arts in professional photography from Brooks Institute, Santa Barbara, CA. He received a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from the University of New Mexico Albuquerque.

Larry McNeil is Tlingit and a member of the Nisga’a Nation. He is Eagle Daklaweidi (Killerwhale) House.
