Sealaska Director Jackie Pata also serves as the Excutive Director of National Congress of American Indians (NCAI).
In part, Pata writes -- "There is a clear solution here: Rename the second day in October to honor indigenous people. Changing the holiday to recognize the contributions of indigenous people will grant these communities the honor and respect they deserve, and it will show that America is ready to come to terms with its complex and sometimes sordid history."
