Summer Internships

Sealaska interns work with our internal departments and partners to gain valuable work experience, offer fresh perspectives, and explore future career opportunities. As an intern, you will be able to apply your education through practical experience in the field and corporate environment. Our internship positions range across various industries and focuses including Business, Land Stewardship & Environmental Science, Engineering & Technology, and Community & Culture.

We kick off our internship program with a week-long orientation and opening convening we call Connect Week. This is an opportunity to have all interns and fellows join together in-person to connect with each other and their ancestral lands before jumping into their summer work. During Connect Week, we invite elders, staff, community members and partners to lead cultural workshops and professional development sessions. The week is packed with exciting activities, outings, and lots of good food. All travel is fully covered to and from Connect Week, and lodging is available too.

Join our land stewardship and environmental technician teams in the field this summer. Apply your love of the outdoors to help Sealaska manage its land resources or perform environmental remediation tasks across job sites.

I am grateful for this opportunity as it has inspired me to continue reaching my goals and fulfilling my purpose in a career in anthropology. It is a blessing for me to learn these skills in and near my family’s traditional homelands and be surrounded by culture and traditional language in a workspace.

I watched the students engage and learn about their native heritage through singing and talking in the Tlingit language, participating in traditional weaving, drum making, and gathering, many of which were educational experiences for me as well.
